Edwards reportedly backs off UF pledge

(Photo: 247Sports) According to a report from 247Sports’ Otis Kirk , Blinn Community College defensive tackle Javier Edwards has backed off his pledge to Florida on Sunday after taking an official visit to Arkansas over the weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pound Edwards originally gave his pledge to the Gators back in June. Florida defensive coaches Randy Shannon and Chris Rumph are scheduled to meet in-person with Edwards on Sunday in hopes of getting him back in the class, but the Razorbacks look to have the edge.

“I’ve got to do these home visits and see how it plays out," Edwards told Kirk. "Right now, Arkansas is probably my number one.”

The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Edwards as the nation’s No. 62 junior college defensive tackle in the 2017 class.
