GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Recruits will arrive in Orlando on Tuesday for the Under Armour All-America Game.
Daquon Green , a 4-star wide receiver from Tampa, Fla., is the lone Florida commit heading into the week. Green was selected the day before last year’s game, which was first reported by SEC Country.
As many as eight Under Armour All-Americans could potentially join Green in Florida’s class come National Signing Day.
The biggest targets are 4-star wide receiver James Robinson (Lakeland, Fla.) and 4-star cornerback C.J. Henderson (Miami). The Gators are considered the leader for Henderson, and Robinson named them his top team for several months during the spring and summer.
Henderson is scheduled to officially visit UF on Jan. 20, and the Gators are hoping to get Robinson on campus next month as well. They’re also trying to secure a visit from Levi Jones (Austin, Texas). The Under Armour All-American is their No. 1 remaining target at linebacker.
Five more prospects in this year’s game have said they intend to officially visit Florida: 4-star offensive tackles Kai-Leon Herbert (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and Tony Gray (Loganville, Ga.), 4-star defensive ends Markaviest Bryant (Cordele, Ga.) and LaBryan Ray (Madison, Ala.) and 4-star safety Xavier McKinney (Roswell, Ga.).
Four of those five recruits are uncommitted, but the Gators actually have the best shot with Herbert. The Michigan pledge favored Florida early in his recruitment and is teammates with a pair of UF commits, James Houston and Marco Wilson . The staff secured a visit from Herbert earlier this month.
A media session will take place Tuesday, and practices begin Wednesday. ESPNU is scheduled to air portions of practice Thursday (4-7 p.m. ET) and Friday (2-5 p.m. ET).
The game will be played Jan. 1 at 1 p.m. on ESPN from Orlando’s Camping World Stadium. Under Armour alums on Florida’s roster
Several current and former Gators have played in the Under Armour All-America Game, including recent first-round picks Dante Fowler Jr., Vernon Hargreaves III and Keanu Neal.
Last year, UF had five 2016 signees compete: defensive end Antonneous Clayton, wide receivers Tyrie Cleveland and Joshua Hammond, cornerback Chauncey Gardner and center Brett Heggie. All five players shined in practices throughout the week, most notably Clayton .
The other Under Armour All-Americans on Florida’s roster are linebacker Alex Anzalone, defensive tackle Caleb Brantley, offensive lineman Tyler Jordan and defensive backs Marcell Harris, Marcus Maye, Jalen “Teez” Tabor and Quincy Wilson.
Anzalone (Notre Dame) and Tabor (Arizona) both played in the game as commitments to other schools, then flipped to Florida the following week for early enrollment. Unless otherwise indicated, ratings and rankings come from the 247Sports Composite.
