Report: Florida to host prolific grad transfer

(Photo: Erik Williams, USA TODAY Sports) GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida will host a graduate transfer who put up big numbers in the 2016-17 season, according to a report from Scout.com’s Evan Daniels .

The Gators will reportedly host Rice wing Egor Koulechov , who averaged 18.2 points and 8.9 rebounds as a redshirt junior. He would be eligible to play immediately.

Coach Mike White could lose would-be-senior Devin Robinson to professional basketball, with Robinson set to test the NBA Draft waters without hiring an agent. White revealed last week that he’d be a bit surprised if Robinson returned.

In any case, Florida would certainly like to add the production on the offensive end that Koulechov would provide.

He shot 47.3 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from 3-point range this season, which would give whatever team lands him the ability to stretch the floor and add some serious firepower.

White has been willing to take transfers and said that would be something his staff would consider again after Charleston graduate transfer Canyon Barry earned SEC Sixth Man of the Year honors while averaging 11.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game en route to the Elite Eight.

The Gators do face a bit of a numbers crunch potentially, though. Should both Robinson and John Egbunu move on to professional basketball, that issue would be solved. That would leave 12 returning players, freeing up a scholarship for Koulechov.

Koulechov also visited Oklahoma this week. —————
