Florida Gators receiver coach Kerry Dixon/ David Bowie One thing that head coach Jim McElwain wants in this Florida Gators recruiting class is speed and on Saturday he hosted one of the fastest players in the country.
That player was receiver Anthony Schwartz (5-11, 165, Fort Lauderdale, FL. American Heritage) who got the whole unofficial visitor experience.
“The visit was great overall,” Schwartz said. “We toured the student-athlete education center, talked to some of the coaches, toured the locker room and went on the field.”
Schwartz got a chance to hang around the staff for a while and he was impressed by their personalities.
“The facilities were nice,” he said. “The coaching staff was very laid back and friendly. They made us feel at home during the visit.”
The receiver also got a chance to meet with receiver’s coach Kerry Dixon who explained how Florida could prepare him for the NFL.
“He was telling me that I can be a game changer for them,” Schwartz said on what Dixon told him. “He said that the type of offense Florida runs is similar to what many NFL teams run. He said it would prepare me for the next level.”
When Dixon was talking with Schwartz, he broke down how the Gators would get him the ball if he chooses Florida.
“He just told me that they will find ways to get me the ball,” he said on what Dixon told him about getting him the ball. “He said that I’m going to get a lot of sweeps, double moves for deep passes and they will throw a lot of screens to me.”
Schwartz also got the chance to meet with head coach Jim McElwain who mainly talked about things outside of football.
“He was mainly talking about how he prepares his player for life after football,” Schwartz said of what McElwain told him. “He said that football doesn’t work out for everyone so he wants you prepared. He really seemed like someone I could talk to if I were to have any problems whether it be school or football related.”
Heading into the visit the Gators were in good shape and Schwartz left the visit even more impressed by Florida.
“The visit definitely boosted the Gators even higher,” he said on if the visit helped Florida’s chances with him. “They’re still my leader with Miami right behind them. I might make a decision in August if I’m 100 percent.” INSIDERS TAKE : Florida was an offer that Schwartz wanted and we got it, he instantly named Florida his leader. The Gators are in good shape for Schwartz early on.
